Hi
I can`t play MP3 files in Redhat Linux 8 and 9.
for example in RH-Linux 9 when I try to play them by xmms I receive a message that indicates redhat removes this ability from Linux. Red Face
what can I do to play MP3 files in linux???

There are some packages missing in RH because of licsensing issues, like mp3 support for XMMS, DVD and DivX player and ofcause they will not include Flash, Java or RealAudio.

Most of this stuff you will find at Freshrpms.net.

well goto xmms website and look out there ... there is a link which states download xmms with required files for RH 9 etc.,... its is xmms with all the required files...but pls do look it urself

RedHat doesn't include an mp3 player due to some license things.

i dont know if u tried to goto XMMS to look for exact link but ... i think it will be good for me to put it here ... the link is

here u can have xmms binaries with all the mp3 required files for RH9 and 8......

another way out..... i have mandrake roking without any troble with all music and videos... give it a try
