Yeah, I installed it to my work computer already and works great. I can't see any changes so they must all be security and bug fixes I guess. Just waiting for the finnish version to come out so I can update my home computer as well.

I have not yet installed it onto my 2k computer yet, what can I say: I am lazy.
I think I will test it in vmware first.

VMWare rocks...but Windows2000 is very slow on it unless you have more than 128 megs of ram to dedicate. It doesn't give me descent performance with anything less than 256mb dedicated. However, normally I dedicate 512.

Yes, VirtualPC is great...but...Linux installs always fuck up using VirtualPC. Everything goes fine during file copies, initial setup, however, when it comes to the video card setup in the linux installer...well everything goes south.

I booted knppix using virtuapc once and it worked fine (except I need more ram to actually use it).
The rest all screwed the video thing.
I was wondering if there are more machine emulators then the two mentioned. Especialy ones that work with linux as the host.

Knoppix boots alright in any environment...it's all self-contained.

Oh, there are no problems when I install Linux on the machine as a real operating system. When I install it on any machine, with VirtualPC, it hangs on the video setup. Doesn't matter what video card I try to emulate, even the default it selects, even selecting my real video card model. So, I always wind up in a true command line environment instead of a window manager.

I said that I wondered if there were any programs that do this besides the mentioned two because I am unaware of them.
virtuapc has given me the exact same probs as you described.
I was unaware that you can install virtualpc with linux as the host OS, it used to be a MAC only program. I will check the site.

Well, I just installed my purchased copy of VMWare v4 and I'm going to try that program.
Maybe it'll work. Smile

Heh, I sure hope you don't try to "upgrade" since it just won't work. Tongue That upgrade is designed for previous RedHat's. Tongue

Personally...if I were you...I'd test both RedHat 9 and Mandrake 9.1.
