Creating link from URL Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information

I could really use a PHP function which would do this.

if I write into database
[ url=www.dreamimpact.com]my site[/url ]
(The spaces are there for that this board doesn't create the link for it now Smile )

the function would create a link from this the way BBCode does it? Any help?

You need to use preg_replace() function for that.

yes I know but I'm so lost using that function so I could really use an example or something ready made function. I know that these exists for example in these boards code and someone must've put the code into web Smile I just haven't found it yet Smile I tried to look the code from IB source but couldn't find it there.

Thanx Heather! Those are pretty much what I need. I just have one thing I would like to know. How to use the url bbcode tag where you enter the text different that what the link is so that you could do like what you have done in your post Heather. That's actually the thing I wanted to know from the start. Smile

It's one of the most simple PHP functions...I could have told you how without even linking. I figured it would be a better learning experience if you SAW the example of the str_replace and preg_replace functions and what they are replacing when you use BBCode.

Good luck with the project...whatever it is. Speaking of that, what is it for? Smile

Just for my own website which is coming sometime soon. I have the "interact" section not done but I try to finish the rest of the site first and then release it and add the last section later. I just have to fix few design wise things and fine tune it a bit and then it's ready for launch. And of course write the content for it.
