Somebody has to do it...you may not like me for it, however, you should you know by now that I simply don't give a crap. *nix is every bit as insecure as Microsoft Windows, no matter how you slice it, dice or deny it. BOTTOM LINE: Your beloved *nix is every bit as insecure as your assumed mortal enemy Microsoft Windows. It is my hope the rest of this post will enlighten you.
Some valuable advice for you all...don't say something is more secure than something else. I will think you are a fool unless you happen to be an expert such as the always knowledgeable Marc Fossi or Bill Hayes or anyone else at a site such as SecurityFocus. It may be common knowledge that Microsoft bugs are made wildly public by everyone that has a news website, but it seems everyone quietly finds out about the *nix bugs.
It also has a lot to do with the fact that Windows is installed on 95% or more of the computers in the world, some version or another. This has been estimated and re-estimated countless times with the same results. As a result of the latter things, it in no way comes as a shock to me that everyone instantly answers Microsoft when it comes to security issues.
I hope this post has enlightened you, however, I am prepared to accept it if you should choose to continue on your path to a state of "arrogant bliss." I only said it was a "hope" of mine though...I'm losing nothing but I can gain a lot. You will undoubtedly scream "hypocrite" but why am I one? I never took a stance on which was more secure. Cry "wolf" if you like, nobody will listen the second time...I suggest you save your one chance to cry "wolf" when it really counts!
You all have a terrific day, I'm going to lunch at The Arizona Center.

The thing here is choice, some ppl like linux where others like *nix. So this depends on what kinda use and choice. |

FOR THE RECORD: I kept this post relatively short and sweet. As a direct result, I was not able to use the language that I would have preferred using (polite persuasion rather than bully persuasion) in this situation. Furthermore, if this has resulted in any offense taken by the reader...I respectfully ask that you accept my apologies for what is about to be said.
With that said, let's move on to the good stuff.
I have spent the last 15 minutes thinking of multiple ways this may have anything remotely to do with the topic at hand. I see ZERO relevance in this post, especially with your comments about Mr. Gates. User choice is another thing that really has no significance to the matter.
The plain English translation...complete mindless babble!
The topic has evolved and I think it is easily seen in the posts that have been made. It has gone from a simple, mindless rant on how Microsoft security is "horrible" to a debate of ignorance in a way. Perhaps I misread your post or I simply am drawing my own conclusions...oh no, god forbid, somebody who isn't a sheep but rather the cunning wolf.
I turned this topic around for a reason. My intention was to place you on the defensive, which it did with great success. However, you did not take it as planned. I wanted you to tell me why you believed Microsoft was inferior, security-wise...your opinion if you will. This opinion should be straight to the point, no expert bullshit. We both know that your not an expert, but have some knowledge. Let's here it pal, I want to start an intellectual debate.

ErRor_55, that's also not something very smart to say. The first and most important thing about making comments would be to use correct spelling & grammar. When somebody see's that you cannot spell and/or use correct grammar when making these sorts of "opinions," they're far less likely to take you seriously. This is minor stuff, however, it's major at the same time.
You speak the truth when you say Microsoft has more users, but don't say M$ since that is cryptic and really doesn't make you seem all that more intelligent than an average chimp at any local zoo. It would be fair to assume that a large majority of *nix users are in fact using *nix because they like the open source world, however, saying that they use *nix because they hate Microsoft isn't as fair as one may think. I use *nix, I certainly don't hate Microsoft nor Bill Gates.
Another thing...your nickname. Do you believe that makes you seem l33t or hax0r? You know...real hackers don't talk like that. Real hackers are a very well educated group of folks and they talk like I am talking now. Asside from the jargon they use, would you be able to tell somebody was a nerd? I don't think so; actually, I take that back. I know I'm right because I know a lot of hackers my friend.
