I have messed u with my linux system while I was trying to tweak it and make it secure. Actually, I've changed the root shell from /bin/bash to /sbin/nologin. Now, I am not able to access my root account. What should I do? Confused Confused

Boot up from your Linux install CD. At the prompt, type 'linux rescue' to boot into rescue mode. Once, you get a shell, type 'chroot /mnt/sysimage' this will make the system work as it was earlier. Now you can change your shell from /sbin/nologin to /bin/bash in the /etc/passwd file.
Now reboot and you are done.
